Tarts and cakes

• Almond pear tart. A flaky pastry shell filled with frangipane, a soft almond cake, and topped with roasted fanned local pears.
• Apple cake. A moist, slightly chewy cake with cinnamon and brown sugar. The shop suggested serving it with freshly whipped cinnamon cream.

Packaged goodies

Small packaged sweets make easy gifts. The archive lists:

• Crisp meringues in flavors such as Tahitian vanilla bean, anise, fresh mint, lemon poppyseed, chocolate and cassis
• Peanut brittle in half-pound bags
• Hazelnut brittle, also sold by the half pound
